| The following table is designed to give you the information necessary to specify the correct BoxBolt fixing for your application. BoxBolt fixings have been tested for tensile and shear loading and are Lloyds Register approved. BoxBolt fixings will perform differently depending on the section they are fixed into, therefore the highest loads we specify are for the BoxBolt fixing itself. |
|
The fixing thickness of the BoxBolt fixing is the total thickness of your connecting steelwork and the steelwork being connected to, as below. It must be noted that the minimum fixing thickness of the M16/M20 is 3mm although the outer thickness must be at least 8mm to maximise the shear capacity. Packing washers can be used under the shoulder of the BoxBolt where the plate is less than 8mm.

Hole dimensions and positioning
It is critical to ensure the correct hole size is drilled for the BoxBolt fixing into the section being fixed to. The BoxBolt fixing requires a clearance hole for the outside diameter of the body, dimensions of which are in the table above. Where the BoxBolt fixing is used near to corners of sections or next to each other a minimum spacing is required to stop clashing of the expanding fins, see table opposite:
